The Preschool Department at Horizons Christian Academy provides fundamental skills and social interaction while offering unique features not found in most educational institutions. We are committed to developing students in mind, body and spirit.

Half-Day Features

Children make connections with the concepts already learned and new concepts that are introduced. Reading instruction includes the concept of stories and printed language, retelling, and story comprehension. Children learn to write first and last names as well as alphabet letters. They identify rhyming words and words that begin the same. In math, children continue to count and identify numbers. They sort and compare objects as well as identify money. Spanish and sign language are incorporated into the curriculum on a thematic basis. Also, children this age attend fine arts classes. Computer lab, physical education, library time, and music are offered on a weekly basis.

Some fine arts classes may only be available to children in the full-day K4 class.

Full Day Features

Children enrolled in full-day K4 will continue their preschool experience within the preschool classroom.

Nutritious, hot lunches are provided free of charge to children who attend the full-day class. Children will experience an afternoon filled with additional math and literacy centers, gross motor activity and time with teachers who foster growth in all areas of child development – cognitive, emotional, language, physical, and social.
