Highlights

Each preschool lead teacher at Horizons Christian Academy holds Early Childhood Credentials from an accredited college. All preschool teachers participate in ongoing training and meet all guidelines as mandated by the Department of Social Services.

The quality of children’s early environments greatly influences their cognitive development. ECERS is a nationwide standard evaluation tool designed to measure a preschool program’s effectiveness to create a positive, productive experience for children. Although our state is in the process of adopting state-wide standards for preschool, Horizons participated in ECERS evaluations to begin this standard measure of care for our students even now. The scores are based on observations of daily events. The scale describes specific things to look for in the physical environment including daily routines, interpersonal interactions, language and communication and learning activities. Because of our focus on relationships and instruction we consistently score well above average on this evaluation tool.
